Welcome to the Erlangen International Comic Workshop!

The Erlangen International Comic Workshop – established in 1986 as the German-French Comic Artists’ Seminar – is one of the oldest and most renowned workshops for comic and graphic art. Hosted annually by the Cultural Office of the City of Erlangen - Department Festivals and Cultural Programmes, the weeklong workshop aims to offer a unique training to already experienced comic artists – illustrators and scenarists alike. This year Ralf Marczinczik takes over the conduct of the workshop and succeeds Paul Derouet, founder and longstanding organiser of the seminar.

Lecturers

Internationally renowned illustrators and scenarists, i.a. from France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Spain have worked as instructors at the Erlangen International Comic Workshop in the past.

Comics of the participants

In each seminar a great variety of exciting comic works are created, which usually deal with a common topic. In exchange, the artists and authors develop and work together on their comics. You can get an impression with beautiful examples here.

Application

The workshop is limited to 25 comic artists who have already established a certain routine in their work and demonstrate advanced skills in illustrating and storytelling. The workshop is not an introduction to graphic literature and comics, but aims to develop and refine already existing skills and accomplishments.
